In the Excellence in Action feature, Murray Athletic Development acknowledges the accomplishments of those who have trained directly with MAD, or who have trained with MAD Director John Murray during his career.
Coach Marty Kinahan and his Santa Rosa Junior College Men's Soccer Team: Coach Kinahan and his Bear Cub Footballers are off to a great start in what could be another championship season. This past March, Coach Kinahan, his 2001 State Championship Team, and his 2002 State Championship Team, were all inducted into the S.R.J.C. Sports Hall of Fame.
Calvin Kapral: During September, Calvin attended and performed at all 12 of his scheduled workouts and gained 80 lbs. of strength. Calvin is a sophomore at Woodside High, and he has been training with MAD at The Cage in Redwood City since he was in 7th grade.
Dorell Wright: Congratulations to Wright and his Lokomotiv Kuban teammates on their Russian Cup victory last season. Wright stars for PBC Lokomotiv Kuban, a Russian professional basketball team that is based in Krasnodar. The club participates in the VTB United League, and EuroCup. The team is one of the top tier basketball teams in Russia.
Jared Goff: Goff and his Los Angeles Ram teammates are off to a great start both collectively and individually. Posting a perfect 3-0 record to begin the season, to date, the Rams have outscored all other N.F.L. teams, and last week, Goff was named the N.F.C. Offensive Player of the Month.
Ella Ross: Last Spring, as an 8th grader, Ella trained with MAD for 16 sessions gaining over 100 lbs. of strength and increasing her vertical jump by more than 2 inches. Over the summer, she competed for a national championship in Detroit as a member of the Red Rock Volleyball Club. This fall she made the St. Ignatius Girls Juniour Varsity Volleyball Team.
Ciava Gallagher: A Red Rock V.C. teammate and workout partner of Ella Ross', Ciava also trained with MAD for 16 sessions last spring, likewise gaining over 100 lbs. of strength and increasing her vertical jump by more than 2 inches. Alongside her friend, Ella, she also competed for a national championship in Detroit this past summer. This fall, she made the St. Ignatius Girls Freshman Volleyball Team.
Evan “Blue” Branch-Haynes: Blue started working with MAD in the beginning of June. He trained diligently three times a week in order to perfect his technique. His work with MAD over the summer has helped Blue dominate his opponents for the first half of the season. He leads his team with 5 sacks, ranking him 3rd in the W.C.A.L. Blue hopes to lead Sacred Heart Cathedral to its first ever back to back playoff berth and possibly earn a chance to compete for a State Championship.
