As the Oakland Soldiers settle into their new facility at Soldiertown, on Sunday, October 7, 2018, they conducted tryouts for their 13U and 9U basketball teams, and Murray Athletic Development ran the warm-up exercises for each group prior to the evaluations.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2018, MAD put on an NBA combine at Soldiertown for the Soldiers' 9U and 13U players. MAD's combine included the following tests: NBA ¾ court sprint; lane agility; reaction shuttle; standing vertical; and max vertical. Sixty-seven young athletes eagerly participated in the battery of NBA style exercises.

MAD inaugurated the Soldiers' youth program Introduction to Athletic Development on Wednesday, October 21, 2018, and Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Soldiertown. The purpose of the program is to introduce young basketball players to an athletic development program that they can use in conjunction with developing their skills. Introduction to Athletic Development consists of exercises aimed to develop players’ trunk and core strength, functional flexibility, and dynamic power to directly improve their basketball skills. The Soldiers' new program got off to a good start with over 70 young athletes participating.
